Raleigh-Durham suburban office leasing volume remains steady as remote job postings reach high levels

The commute to the office, and all of the costs associated with it, is commonly cited by office users as a reason to work remotely. In the past two years the percentage of jobs posted as remote has increased, but suburban office leasing activity has remained steady.
Office properties that are located in suburban submarkets are attractive to many users that are still balancing the work from home/hybrid model. They offer lower rental rates than the urban comparative but typically do not have as many amenities.
Although suburban office leasing activity is still down from its pre-covid highs, suburban office space is likely to remain steady or increase in popularity as tenants continue to assess their office space use and needs.
