Raleigh-Durham malls see no decline in visitors while retail job postings plummet
– The Triangle’s three super regional malls experienced a combined 4.8% increase in total visitors for the month of March 2024, when compared to April 2023. After a strong month of December, it is obvious that Raleigh-Durham’s super regional malls are not struggling from a lack of visitors.
– While the malls see strong visitor volumes, job postings in the retail sector for the entire Raleigh-Durham market have declined 24% since July of 2023, despite recovering from the 12-month low they saw in December of 2023.
– The job postings data suggests that retail in Raleigh-Durham is going through a difficult period, but visitor volumes show that those difficulties are likely not occurring at the market’s super regional malls.
