Baron Hazen oversees facilities and asset management for Avison Young’s clients across North America including large, multi-location portfolios. He was recently responsible for the facilities management for Unisys with 38 assets across North America totaling 4.6 million square feet (MSFs). With over 25 years of experience leading and directing all aspects of property operations, budgeting, finance and sales, Baron’s background in residential and commercial real estate management provides him with a wide range of knowledge across various property types and markets.
Prior to joining Avison Young, Baron served in an executive role at Avalon Bay Communities where he led the management of their Connecticut portfolio of 2.2 mms mixed-use assets inclusive of 2,000 luxury rental units and 160,000 sf of retail. In this role he managed 60 associates and was accountable for asset acquisitions, dispositions and new developments. Baron’s background includes the management of JP Morgan’s Westchester Asset Management portfolio, consisting of multiple mixed-use properties with over 1.4 msf combined. While there he ensured assets achieved fund-specific objectives
His intuitive people and property management skills have resulted in repeated success building and guiding teams, and training and developing staff. His positive mentoring and coaching techniques inspire high productivity from his team members.
Baron served in the United States Navy from 1991 to 1995 and was deployed in the Persian Gulf during Desert Shield. He is the recipient of the Navy Achievement medal for his accomplishments during his time in the military. After his service he cultivated his management and people skills through a commitment to “giving back” as he and his wife performed volunteer work in third-world countries around the globe for one year.
