As Principal, Brunner will further strengthen firm’s leadership and investment valuation business

Toronto, ON – Global commercial real estate advisor Avison Young announces that Liam Brunner has joined Valuation & Advisory Services to lead Western Canada and is based in Calgary.

“Liam has a strong track record of delivering results and I can’t wait to watch him flourish on our team,” said Matthew McWatters, Managing Director & Canadian Leader, Valuation, Advisory & Property Tax Services. “He has an impressive range in his experience and network, which will be an incredible value add to the depth of our existing team and network of professionals.”

In his role, Brunner will lead and drive growth across Western Canada’s platform, along with Canadian Investment, Valuation & Advisory Services targeted to both institutional and private sector clients.

With more than 20 years of experience, Brunner has provided real estate valuation and advisory services to a broad range of clients throughout Canada. He has held roles of progressive responsibility within the commercial real estate and professional services sectors, most recently as a Senior Managing Director and Canadian Practice Leader, with a focus on business development and platform execution. Brunner brings a diversified skillset, having worked with special-purpose and investment-grade property classes, advising some of Canada’s leading businesses – including financial institutions, all levels of government, real estate developers, and investors.

“Joining Avison Young was a relatively easy decision for me because of what I discovered about the firm’s team dynamics,” said Brunner. “It’s important to be where colleagues have a strong sense of team and collaboration – where people come together and where service lines also partner to deliver a truly integrated approach to client offerings.”

Brunner holds the designation of AACI, Accredited Appraiser, from the Appraisal Institute of Canada and the designation of MRICS from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He has a Bachelor of Economics degree from Concordia University and a Certificate in Management and Applied Real Estate from McGill University.
