Avison Young taps CRE heavyweight in New York
October 5, 2021Thomas Kaufman joins as Principal, will enhance the firm’s presence in Downtown Manhattan
New York City, NY – Avison Young announced today the strategic hiring of Thomas Kaufman as Principal to boost the firm’s business efforts in the Downtown Manhattan submarket. He brings more than 30 years of experience in providing consulting and brokerage services to banks, partnerships, corporations and institutional owners.
“Tom is a seasoned broker with a well-regarded track record of client service and industry expertise that will help build our agency leasing platform in Manhattan,” said Dorothy Alpert, Avison Young Principal and Tri-State President. “His experience and expertise will be an added value and asset to our clients as we continue to expand our comprehensive real estate services platform. We are delighted to have Tom join the Avison Young team.”
Kaufman joins Avison Young from InterRelate Group, LLC where he served as Chief Executive Officer, managing business development, establishing strategic partnerships and spearheading the management of overall brokerage services. Previously he spent seven years as an Executive Director at Cushman & Wakefield and prior to that he was with the New York office of CB Richard Ellis as a Senior Vice President. Kaufman has broad experience representing both major commercial property owners and tenants. He provides consulting services for the not-for-profit community, including American Numismatic Society, Literacy Assistance Center, Girls Inc., Inroads Inc., the Council on Accreditation and the Hetrick-Martin Institute, Inc.

Kaufman will work closely with Todd Korren, Principal in Avison Young’s New York City office, to grow the firm’s downtown platform through recruiting and new business development initiatives.
